Trevor & Lyndsay Courtney have been active in organic growing in Australia and New Zealand for over 30 years. Since settling in North Canterbury NZ they have embraced biodynamics.
Trevor has a Level 4 horticultural certification in Plant Propagation, Plant Pruning & Training, Weed & Pest Management and Pasture Production. Lyndsay has a certificate in Animal and Plant Care and Communication.
Our animals consist of a 2 breeding herds of Wiltshire sheep, 3 Red Devon cows, a West Highland White dog and a black Maine Coon cat.
We have 4 hectacres of pasture, a half hectacre of fruit trees consisting of heritage apples and pears along with some nectarines, peaches, plums and prunes. Half are grown festooned and half using the espalier method. We also have a large organic vegetable garden, a bee apiary and a hop garden consisting of 13 different varieties.
We currently have a quarter hectare of organic saffron under production and a similar area prepared for further expansion.
